by E. Garzilli

As far as I know, we are one of the first academic journals on the Internet. We have surely been for years the first and only one in our field, and we are the first to have added the hard copy to the electronic format. The Internet is not merely a publicity for us: it is our first means of publication. Therefore, our style reflects the needs of the email and the WWW.

All the papers published in our journal have, I hope, academic dignity: they often cover gaps in some field of study; they show new research material with a high level information; they present the achievements of the research and provide readers with elements to verify them; they leave room for further study; and they usually have a rich corpus of references and bibliography.

The contributors of our journals are mostly academics from the most computer-literate countries: USA, UK, Australia, New Zeland, Japan, Europe, and the Arabic Emirates. We also have members from less computer-literate countries such as Africa, Albania, Brazil, and Romania. Among our readers there also are amateurs with an astonishing level of specialized knowledge. They are favored since they are free from the notions, and assumptions in vogue in academic environments.

We choose and edit papers always having in mind clarity and lucidity, so that even a non-initiated reader is able to read them. We ask contributors to be as explicit and unambiguous as possible. Even though our journals are primarily for scholars, we want to be enjoyed by ordinary readers with a non-specialist education, and by inquisitive people who often write to me to express their appreciation, to ask questions, to get in touch with other readers, or to comment on papers or on questions arising from them.

No institutions or publisher pay for our publications, and we do not pay anybody for it. We do not have to take into account the needs of any institution, corporation, commercial or NGO organization. Our only concern is the quality of data and information, and readers: they give us an excellent feedback with letters, votes, and their membership.

There is no political purpose in associating with us: nobody can find a job through us and we do not promote positions of any kind. We only announce conferences and positions pertinent to our field. We distribute comments originated by our published papers only if addressed to the whole list.
