Editorial note
In this issue we are publishing two papers. The first is “The “Scandalous” Tantric Hymn to Kālī Karpūrādi-stotra: an Expurgated Translation”, by Dr. John R. Dupuche. He is currently Honorary Fellow, Australian Catholic University, MCD University of Divinity. He has extensively published on the so-called Kashmir Shivaism or Pratyabhijña, focusing on Abhinavagupta, and on Pratyabhijña and interreligious dialogue. His work includes Abhinavagupta: The Kula Ritual as elaborated in chapter 29 of the Tantraloka (Delhi, 2003), and Vers un tantra chrétien; la rencontre du Christianisme et du Shivaïsme du Cachemire (Melbourne, 2009).
The second, more journalistic paper is titled “China Shadows and Tibet Flames: The “Policy of Immolations” and Future Scenarios”, by Piero Verni. He is a journalist and film maker specialized on Himalayan countries, and particularly on China-Tibet relationship. His work includes an authorized biography of the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, Dalai Lama: biografia autorizzata (Milano, 1990), and the video The Road to Freedom (with Karma Chukey, 2008), Palladium Flower Award at Assisi Flower Film Festival, 2010.
